Looking back, the first website I created was pretty awful. It was back in middle school and was a clan site for an old game called StarCraft. I was really proud of it. Sadly, I also thought lime green on black was a good color scheme.
I really didn't get into building websites until about 5 years later. I was sitting in the barracks in Okinawa Japan (I was enlisted in the Marine Corps at the time) and thought it would be nice to have some extra spending cash. So I thought back to the website I made, and the Digital Imaging class I took in high school, and thought, "Hey, why the hell not?"... It wasn't that easy.
Skipping all the boring details, [like how I spent time learning about color theory, design, layout, user interfacing, cross-browser compatibility, styling, logos, and a slew of other things that go into designing a website (I don't even want to go into programming the back end)], I picked up a couple of small website projects and started creating.
